Providing sufficient RF power for cellphone jamming requires a substantial amount of amplification typically not provided by commercial off-the-shelf remote units. Signal sources are typically the most expensive part of a cellphone control system and many facilities are multi-building so adding signal sources to each building/area can quickly inflate a budget. This reality requires a fiber remote system capable of distributing RF signals from a centralized location to each building/area and amplifying them to provide sufficient coverage where needed, along with careful RF DAS design to ensure the service denial does not bleed to the surrounding civilians.
